One Month Old

What a month it's been. I can't believe my son is 1 month old, and he's already been through so much. More than what most people experience in their whole life. We're so lucky he's with us here.

Life with Lucas here at home has been such a joy. Our family is happy to be back together, something we don't' take lightly. Big sister Tessa is adjusting to our new normal, with a newborn at home, and is happy to have both her mom and dad here, along with Grammie. She's adorable with Lucas, immediately concerned when he starts to cry and wants to help calm him, by placing a pacifier nearby or starts signing Frere Jacques or other lullabies.

Lucas continues to eat more and more each day at the breast, and loves to be on his tummy. His head control is amazing for a 1 month old. As I type this post, he's on my chest busy lifting up his head to look at me and rooting around on my chest. He's going to be a tummy and side sleeper I'm sure.

So things are going well, and it's easy to forget how much has happened in the past month, and assume Lucas is a normal baby. But every time, we're reminded that he's still 'fragile'-- he starts to wheeze or his breathing is labored, or we're constantly calculating how much he's eating (we weigh him before and after he breastfeeds to see how much he's eaten). And every time, we're amazed at how much progress he's made. I'm so proud of my little one month old baby!

Here is a series of images from the past few days:
