Operation is underway

Lucas had his "Trial Off" at 9 am.  He did very well.  You could tell this because at first we had 5 docs standing around.  After about 30 minutes we only had 1 and a handful of nurses and everyone seemed bored.

I like bored.

Bored is good.

You don't want to be "interesting"

So after scheduling the OR team around they decided on 2:00 today.  (they had to put it off a little because of a heart transplant... WOW...)

The news is that he is doing quite well.  Responds very well to diuresis. (I want to teach his sister to say "diurising" when she needs to pee).  He might be a little low on potassium because how much he pees and how the kidneys work.  He has a little conjugated bilirubin from the ECMO circuit.  This isn't the same as the unconjugated kind that can be treated with UV lights like his sister had. (It would just turn him green)  But, that should go away after the ECMO is done.

Basically I'm nervous, and just waiting this out.

So here is a video of his sister playing in the toy room with these awesome marble toys.

Oh and hey Jen.  I asked about the PPHT.  The doc told me that is sort of the default diagnostic and so yes he had that but, they think the reason was pneumonia from a bacteria.  The mystery is still out there.

Anyway, I will report later...

  3. Ditto. Yesterday's video of Lucas was really sweet. He wriggled a bit as if he was being touched or wanted to touch mama. & Tessa's marble toy looked like a lot of fun.
